Our desire is to produce the highest quality
of martial arts in you in the shortest time, but we need
your help. We see many people come and go. Most really
want to learn, they just do not have the habits to stick
with something long enough to get good, they are too results
oriented. We want to point out a few things that we hope
will help you in staying with it, as in the end this is
the one thing that will make you good, STAYING WITH IT.
What it takes to get good at martial arts:
- Come to class on a regular basis, twice a week works
well.
MAKE SURE YOU SHOW UP ON A REGULAR BASIS
(But the more you come the faster you will grow).
- Practice on you own every day for 10 to 60 minutes,
depending on how long you have been training. Just make
sure you practice everyday.
- Try to read about martial arts and watch tapes of
my teachers.
- Attend seminars with my teachers.
- Do private lessons.
BE PATIENT as true martial arts are a lifelong pursuit,
all serious practitioners are lifelong students!
Do not let expectations dominate your thoughts. Instead
focus on the time you put into it, knowing that the more
time you train the more you will improve.
When you find yourself asking how long this is going
to take, put in more time. And learn not to have any thought
of how long is this going to take…enjoy the journey.
As most people are very busy, it will help if you make
a habit of getting up earlier to workout. As you train
more you will in turn need less sleep, so you will be
able to get up earlier and put in the required time.
DO NOT GIVE UP!!
Time Frames- based on coming to class 2x a week and you
practicing on your own.
- first 6 months getting more control in/of your body
- 1 year slight amount of skill
- 2 to 3 years intermediate level
- 4 to 5 years advanced intermediate level
- 6 to 7 years beginning expert (Just stick with it,
there are no secrets, only hard work!)
There are no secrets, your level depends on how diligent
and how hard you practice and if you have a competent
teacher.
Beginners should be patient, be calm in your mind and
practice according to the rules. The improvement will
come gradually and cannot be rushed or achieved by taking
shortcuts.
